Burghauser’s brief biography of Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904) from 1985 provides reliable information on the composer’s life and work in an accessible and readable form. The appendices include a list of compositions, a table showing biographical events as well as important political and cultural happenings during Dvořák’s lifetime, and references to sources and basic literature. For the second Czech editions (Prague 2006) the book has been revised, provided with extensive illustrations, and supplemented with an index of persons as well as an index od Dvořák’s works. The new edition is now being published in English for the first time.
